Tricky
To get anything close to that, I'll bet it wont be free/shareware - more like $2,000+ Link to comment

Draxis Wolfe
I think the closest to that you can come to on the Windows side of things is a combination of Adobe After Effects and Adobe Premiere. And just one of those packages alone is a pretty darn expensive piece software. Link to comment
lostspyder
Discreete combustion is probaly the closest, authough i didnt look too deeply into what that is capable of, i know combustion is EXTREMLY powerfull, expecialy if your intergrating with 3dsmax too. I know there are a few packages similar to this for linux/unixes, ive never tried them so idk how they compair in power. Besides what are you gonna do with it, make the starburst transition effect for your home videos? Its usless unless your working on some film/comercial/tv show special effect team, and if you are you should already know what to use. Link to comment
babypapichulo
Thanks everyone for your help.I have Pinnacle Studio 8.Does anyone know of Hacks or skins or something like that, that could give me the same layout or even just the same look. (I know that it doesn't even compare to the Apple app but thats a ll I got.)P.S. For those who don't have it you should get it cause it's very easy to use and pretty cheap I think it's a good value. Draxis Wolfe
You're actually comaring apps like Apple Motion, Adobe Premiere, and Discrete Combustion to Pinnacle Studio 8? That's like comparing a Mustang to a Pinto. But I suppose it is the best choice you're going to get for that price. Link to comment

babypapichulo
Oh you do video editing, YES!!!!!! I can scratch that off my "to meet list" I understand. So lets say I have $100, and have a good enough PC to run almost all amps out, and have Windows XP PRO. And have VERY LITTLE experience in this criteria  What software would you recommend for me to get? Cause I would realy want to get into this. Link to comment
Draxis Wolfe
Well I'm no expert by far. I just took some classes in college and produce some independent filmlettes as a hobby. I just got ahold of Adobe Premiere, myself. If your serious, you'll save up your money for a piece of software like that.If you just want to fool around, here's some links for your's and everyone else's sake.http://www.virtualdub.org/Virtualdub is about the best free digital video editing software you're going to find for Windows. It doesn't do nearly as much as an expensive package, but it's a little more poweful than your standard home editing suite.http://audacity.sourceforge.net/Audacity is good for editing sound to integrate with video. Virtualdub's sound editing capabilities arn't very good by themself. There's probably better wave editing freeware out there, but this is what I use.PS: Virtualdub only outputs to AVI, which isn't a very good format for transfering over the internet, or even saving on CDs, so here's some software that converts AVI to MPEG:http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html Link to comment
babypapichulo
Yes thank you. I will use VirtualDub ( it's Open Source :woot: ) and Studio 8. I'll see what mods I could come up with for Virtual Dub. Thanks. BTW, As I work on it I'll post screen shots. Link to comment
babypapichulo
Update. Sorry. I tried to hack VirtualDub's dll's but ResHacker says that they were probably compresed with a .exe commpresspr. It wont let me moddify anything. If any one knows of a program that could get around that, then please post a link cause I would like to get strated on this as soon as possible to release it. Link to comment
lostspyder
Why do you want this so bad? Its not like the GUI in the pics were expecialy pleasing to the eye, like iTunes or soemthins is. Link to comment

Its not like the GUI in the pics were expecialy pleasing to the eye, like iTunes or soemthins is. True, but I like to mimic everything. If you'd prefer iTunes then I'll make a iTunes skin as well for people like you. Decides your comment do you have any actual advice. Link to comment

contrasutra
1. VirtualDub is open source, like you said. You don't need to reshack the binary. Just edit the source code and recompile. Jeez, "hack" an open source app, you kids. 2. Someone said there were "similar apps" to Motion on UNIX/Linux., that's not quite right. Motion is available for UNIX and LINUX. Most of these apps (Shake for example) were originally UNIX/LINUX, but Apple bought them and ported to OSX. In fact, FCP was originally a Windows app that Apple bought and ported from Macromedia. 3. You don't need Motion. There's no reason to get it unless you are a pro. Just looking at the requirements will tell you that (G5). Link to comment

Just looking at the requirements will tell you that (G5). Agreed. Don't get carried away. That app is for pros looking for fast and efficient ways of doing real-time titling effects. And that's it. It's very specialized. Avids' DV free thing is a full-on video editor and has none of the capabilities of Motion. It's completely different. Most editing/compositing/titling apps are ugly and not much to look at anyway, so skinning in that arena is overkill. I use Final Cut Pro on a G4 and its nothing special to look at. It isn't very Panther-ish like the rest of the system. And Motion looks about the same to me as far as its GUI. Why don't we get someone to skin Movie Maker into iMovie? That would be cooler. Trouble is, Movie Maker sucks so bad.... ah well.... Link to comment
babypapichulo
Okay.I see your point. So if I make a mod for movie maker will anyone use it?If your interested in this than please post a respond saying yes.If not than I wouldn't waste my time. Any one willing to use it when I'm done.- I mean Movie Maker sucks but it's free and a Mac mod is better than nothing. Link to comment
