I change my vs whenever I like it. It seems that I get sick of eyecandy easily and I always end up switching to either the default class theme, hmmxp or minus521.

I do exactly the same, I change my VS according to my mood. But I finally ended up with switching between two styles, the nice selection of HmmXP Blue [link] or Method II [link]. You may wanna try it with these two.

/me out

Edit > Oh, by the way, at first you start enforcing the TAGs and then you start nitpicking with "no [poll] tag exists", arrr... unbelievable >.<

Edit II > If you kinda like Luna, you maybe like Royale, at least the mod of it [link]

I used a slightly modded Smooth Stripes Sunken Gloss Blue for just about the past year and three months. (I had to mod it to be able to use it with a vertical taskbar.) I decided about a week ago, though, that I was tired of the shiny white-and-blue and changed over to QuicksilverR, although yet again I had to mod it a bit to suit my tastes. (I like the window that takes focus to have a shiny colored entry on the taskbar both on focus and on mouseover, as this is Windows XP, not an actual Mac, that I'm working on.)

Something I wish for, which I noted in another thread earlier: A useable black or maroon vinyl-look theme that (1) supports vertical taskbars (2) has a noticeable, preferably raised variation in the taskbar entry on mouseover/window focus. I may just have to figure this one out myself...

You could try the "Reluna" themes. They're reminiscent of luna, but smaller, and more relaxing. I always find myself going back to a glossy version of the regular blue luna just because apple layouts are distracting for me with their bright high contrast colors and strange layout, even though i think theyre pretty. The regular visual styles and skins for windows xp are bulky and feel sort of immature to me with the crayola colors :) even though i agree they have an overall more soothing feel and are far less distracting with the softer richer more complimentary colors rather than bright contrasting and opposing colors.

Id say avoid white and washed out colors like pastels because theyre going to make going to strain your eyes and exhaust you. Move towards more natural warm colors that you find soothing.

you can get reluna http://www.geeknewz.com/modules.php?modid=...tion=show&id=29 there

An excellent point well explained Chi Chi Rodriguez...I find Aqua at 1600X1200 a little strainy too! A lot of white and grey, which I do find tiring. And I find the straight XP themes too bulky and 'child like'...although 'metallic' just about cuts it.

One of my favs has been the 'cough drop' series which bundles in with styleXP...it's cute, but not a serious vs...I think it could be...it has a lot of Aqua elements in it.

To be honest...I'm not sure what I like best! I love Aqua (which got me here in the first place!)...and I love modding my desktop...I get bored easy.

I will probably go back to the Iceman's Jag theme as I think it's the most accurate Mac emulation for my taste...but like Pokeman...you gotta catch 'em all!

Cheers!

I have trouble with most themes here in that they are, for the most part, way too bright for anythig other than surfing or word-process type stuff in bright environments. For graphics work they are positively painfully bright on the eyes. I still haven't found any I'd call ideal but I hate Luna worse than all of them in the fugly stakes.

With my very low level office lighting, themes like 'milk' REALLY hurt. Sadly windows doesn't currently allow the kind of theme I'd like as too many of the screen elements are color-bound to other elements which is a sticking point with many of the darker themes. They just don't work properly. Text vanishes into buttons, websites render text illegibly and stuff generally gets real funky. I'm hoping Longhorn will be a bit more flexible. :)
