Windows Xp New Theme

Saw this at Neowin:

The theme is called Royale (first official theme since the release of XP) and is meant for Win XP MCE 2005. Now its in beta stages. A great theme for those who find it difficult to modify the uxtheme.dll <_< No modification of system files or installation of programs are required for this theme!

Some how, it reminds me of a very old theme called SmoothStripes or rather Gloss version of Milk... Well, can't believe micro$oft paid their designers to simply aqualify... Anyone at this forum can do better!

Looks exactly like Crystal. I'm pretty sure this isn't a real theme. Real Longhorn shots are nothing like this.

(Crystal is basically Luna + Aqua Gloss)

there's a theme somebodies making based on wmp10... which is what that looks like, not longhorn shots. maybe its that theme.

edit: isn't that a wall that was made quite awhile ago by somebody over at neowin?

why would it be in they're screenshots?

looks nice... and looks like another theme that I have used before. And yes, looks like the WMP10 skin. Seem like m$ uses the same ppl to design everything.

yah, sure. guys, this is a Windows XP SP1 with a cool theme applied. the systray clock is RCubes LClock (->neowin.net forums) with the typical misplacement of the minutes and AM/PM. not to mention that I searched this screenie for the clock and didn't find it.

Anyway Lclock is nice but it does not update the clock as frequently as it should.

It isn't a mockup theme. It is an official Windows XP theme that they plan on releasing with new versions of Media Center. Since it is an official microsoft theme, you dont even have to hack the DLL's to get it to work. I have it, and can send it to a couple of you have somewhere I can upload it to.

Yeah I have it too, it's real already. And it's true Windows XP will recognize it as a real M$ theme. You don't need to hack utwhat'sit'sname.dll for it. And it's pretty decent for Microsoft standards.

i dont buy longhorn shots at all. its not yet in alpha. they dont have ANY Part of the GUI down yet, guys. screenshots are going to be far different now than they will be when its released.

edit: i know this isnt a longhorn shots. im just talking about longhorn shots in general. i know, this is obviously xpSP1.

It isnt longhorn. Read the entire thread. It is stripped out of the windows 2005 media center beta.

Neowin has learned that a new theme, potentially destined for Windows XP, has leaked out of Microsoft and onto the web. The theme appears to have come out of a beta version of Media Center 2005, currently in testing.

The theme is not a substantially different incarnation of the existing of Luna, the current default theme for Windows XP. You can see the main changes in the screenshots below; one could describe it as being a 'glass mod' of Luna.

As Microsoft knows, it is very hard to please everyone when it comes to themes. However, I think they can be reasonably certain that most people will like this new version of Luna. It is unknown whether this theme will make it into XP in the near future; Microsoft could potentially sneak it in at the last point with the soon to be released service pack 2 for XP.
