Good idea...there are many plugins for speaking like that. I sort of managed it once

Ahh...yeah

There is a plugin (that works like crap) that makes the contact list transparent. For me, it left a black border and I couldnt move the list anymore. It also makes the text and images look like crap (if the images are complex and the text anti aliased) if it is on anything other than a white background.

*this should be in customizing windows, shouldnt it?*
