I know it's realtively old news for all of those who are aware of it, but i saw no mention of it here (forgive me if i missed it) so i thought it would be worth pointing out and letting those people who do not know, of the slight chaos ensuing at DeviantArt.com

To cut a long story short, one of the 2 founders of D.A. was recently ousted from his position. The disagreement over this has led to the resignation of many other administrators, including the second founder.

Deviant art is pivotal in the arting world, especially with regards to the kind of digital art that is most associated with these forums.

In response to this, onestar (DevArt member) has come up with a widely supported plan to ask people to submit no deviations on August 7th, DeviantArt's 5th birthday, in an attempt to show that it is the commuity of D.A. that makes it what it is and not the directors.

DevArt's been going down for a while. If you wanna see more evidence, check out GFXOasis where several people were banned from DevArt for reporting a pathologic liar and ripper.

I`ve been putting my releases on hold simply cause i don`t have a good site and i`ve been disgusted with DevArt.

From my point of view, either change or get what you deserve.

Well, if you can believe the rumors (and considering the current state of affairs these rumors are ones i am happy to believe) the chance of a new DevArt emerging is quite high, with hints at support for such an idea from both founders (I have been reading around, please dont ask for actual quotations, like i said a rumor ).

However such is the scale of any task like that, we should not be expecting anything anytime soon.

In the meantime, I encourage you to pledge your support for the August 7th "ceasefire" of sorts, and refrain from buying prints and submitting work just for that one day. Though i do fear this protest will be in vain, it is still worth highlighting the importance of the community.

oh i do not plan on releasing anything untill i find a host that is NOT DevArt or untill they get rid of the crap staff.

This also makes me lose hope in people. But hell, with everything happening the the world, we deserve to kill each other and let dolphins take over the world

Manyk, i approve of what you say, and am merely trying reiterate what has been said, and have tried to keep my comments as informatve and unobjective as possible. We dont want to jump to conclusions.

I've been making some jark art, though I'm pretty sure that $Spyed won't give jark his job back (since it's a matter of bussiness)... It's still nice to let him know that the community is behind him.

I have nothing against deviantART and I don't really get into things link this, but it just makes me mad that $spyed would demote °Jark and not really give a legitimate reason why

I'm not familiar with that event, but if you'd like to clarify that a little more it would make sence. But, from that quote, and having no knowlegde of that, I'd have to say, if shocker3d got banned, it serves him right, ripping work is against DA's policies... No matter what social status you are at.

Meh... I only care about DeviantART as a mirror site for images and skins... as long as nobody touches my submissions, I won't have a problem... but what I hear about people on devART sounds inexcusable.

Unbe... marvilla and them were all given there accounts back thanks to the work of one of the admins, who has recently resigned because of jark's removal... You probably already knew that, but... just letting everyone else know.

Personally, I doubt jark's going to get his spot back, and I also don't see DA recovering anytime soon. I'd love to see another DA-ish site open up, but, considering how much work that'll take... Im a little skeptical.

It's all too-bad, jark was quite the guy.

Anyways, don't submit anything until Aug 7, and when you do, make sure it's something yellow please!

Not to mince words (or drag up an old topic), but I am done with deviantArt...probably forever. It's a big mess that never should have happened in the first place.
