DieseL1988
OK, So I've got AveDesk running in Vista. I've managed to cure most of the problems like getting SysStats working etc. However, I've added some PidlShortcuts and they don't seem to be working properly. They are shortcuts to all of my drives etc. basically, and when clicked they just dont open up...However, If it open up My Computer using a normal shortcut and then double click the PidlShortcuts they work, but then if I close everything again and then try they don't work anymore. I was thinking there might be an argument I could add to the shortcuts to force them to open My Computer at a specified location? Any Ideas? All help much appreciated. Link to comment

DieseL1988
It seems like a desklet issue so I don't see how reinstalling is going to make a difference. Link to comment

hallf
Have you tried to change the style setting under appearance to "normal window" rather than "desktop icon" Link to comment
DieseL1988
yes already done that since they dont seem to show up as desktop icons... Link to comment
davidsword
Set them to "Always on bottom" Link to comment
DieseL1988
already had that set... i can click them like select them, but they dont work. they only launch when i have an instance of windows explorer open... there must be a way to set the links to launch windows explorer and open it at a specified location? at the moment they are just set to link to "C:" etc. maybe there is a way to link them to My Computer but have it start in C: ? heath28m
I know this maybe a null point but have you looked into Vista's directory structure as it does differ from that of XP in a major way...Another one you may need to check and make sure that the UAC is not interfering as I have noticed with my short time usage of Vista that this was the case in some situations...LOL..I also had put an icon (.ico) file on the desktop and instead of showing the actual icon; it started showing the icon for the last program I had open instead, which I found kind of useful but not a desired result...I think that the system must have access to these files as well to be able to take a path into a directory in which files reside as this could be a security vulnerability concern for some computing environments...Anyway just a few things..:-) Link to comment
applelover
The solution I have found is to set 'Use classic Windows folders' in the Folder Options control panel applet. When I switched to using preview and filters, the shortcuts to the hard drive and trash no longer opened.
