zomeg5213
May be a problem with your installation/PC configuration as I'm running it at a Vista Home Premium 32-bit system and the latest version of OD+ and almost everything is working as expected (except the generated icon, which has got bogged by the changes in 20/Feb version).I am also experiencing problems of stacks docklet 2 crashing OD. I'm currently running OD+ 1.9 build 535u. When I try to add the docklet to the dock it automatically crashes. I have been running version 1.0 of stacks, do I have to completely remove it and the stack icons from my dock to use this version of stacks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. The new version looks great from what I've seen from others, keep up the good work. Link to comment
firecracker6
SD 1 has a lot of memory bugs, it behaves erratically, makes the dock and other docklets (including SD 2) to crash. I hope to be able to make SD 2 into release candidate at least at any time soon, so everyone can finally remove SD 1 and use SD 2.@ All, I think Matonga has indicated (above,) that if you run Stacks Docklet v1.x with Stacks Docklet 2.x, you will possibly experience errors/crashes. *at present time. Along with that I've also tried a fresh install of objectdock and rocketdock and they also crash. I'm not really sure what the problem is I'm like 99.999% sure I'm putting all the files in the right place. Any help would be appreciated. Link to comment

robc
Matonga, I've just switched my stacks to version 2.0... won't wait for another release (though I hope you're going to make one soon!): a few comments follow. 0. The three icons for each stack are prefectly rendered now, unlike version 1.0 where they were their quality was low. Good! 1. In most instances there's a full empty row in Grid mode (that is a row without any icon), but it doesn't seem to depend on the number of icons, at least it's not a threshold. I've a 24 icon stack that displays 6x4 icons plus an empty row, then a 27 icon stack that displays correctly in 5 rows, a 28 icon stack that displays in 5 rows plus an empty row and finally a 23 icon stack that displays in 4 rows plus an empty row... 2. if I change anything in the folder the stack points to, changes (icons, ordering, removed shortcuts etc.) are reflected the next time RocketDock starts, while in 1.0 they were visible immediately after opening and closing the stack once. 3. some shortcut icons are not rendered and the generic .exe icon is used - but it's lowres. 1. Wait... it seems as though grids are always A x B in size, where B is always A - 1, so we have 6x5, 5x4 etc. grids: when a 6x4 grid would be enough (24 icons) a 6x5 is instead displayed; when a 5x3 would be enough, a 5x4 is used and so on. At least it seems so... Link to comment
xNoFrostx
Matias...
@xNoFrostx: Even though I perfectly understand your spanish (it is my native language) you must post in english (forum rules, not mine). Of course you can still send me Private Messages in spanish, that's ok. These are not bugs. I remind you this is a pre-beta version, which means lots of features are still not implemented. They will become bugs as soon as I release it as beta. Link to comment
xNoFrostx
Ok ^^... Sorry didn't know that rule about writting in english... Well... I will whait then for a beta version ^^... I couldn't get used to this version yet ... Link to comment
robc
Matonga, I must admit that, after cleaning up my stacks (there were too many unused icons in there) and changing many shortcut icons so that all of them were high-res, I don't see anymore that great need to reduce their size Clearly it's a necessary option in general, but if you have "some" screen and less than, say, 20 shortcuts per stack the current icon size is not that bad. BUT, I always miss some onhover effect (even the icon title higlighting could be enough as suggested). I also noticed that the problem 1.0 had when adding/removing secondary monitors seems to have been fixed. Link to comment

The secondary monitor problem was my only gripe from the old version, so I am ecstatic that it is no longer a problem. As far as the stack size goes, since the one stack that I always use has more than 100 icons (11x10), the stack is pretty big. I'm sure this will be one of the tweaks in the upcoming beta, so I'm not griping... for now. Edit: dragging a file into the stack works, and the item moves to that directory, but the item doesn't show up in the stack. Edited March 2, 2009 by Mancho Link to comment

I guess you see the file you dragged and dropped after you close and restart the dock.Matonga, there's a new issue I just found out: if a shorcut in a stack is set to run as Administrator under Vista, the shortcut works ok, the stack closes ok and then RocketDock crashes. Note that it worked fine under 1.0.x. Edited March 3, 2009 by robc Link to comment

elBrutalo
Dear Matonga, thank you very much for your great Docklet!I use it with RocketDock. I'd like to make two small proposals for the next release:1) can you implement an function to manually change the grid raster? i use a very small icon size in the dog and the grid icons are very big compared to that2) when adding a docklet in FAN MODE the fan always pops up upwards, unfortunately also when the Dock itself is at the top of the screen. The fan pops up upwards and the icons are no longer visible because the are "out of the screen"Thank you very much for your great work,Patrick Link to comment

matonga
1. In most instances there's a full empty row in Grid mode (that is a row without any icon) (...) At least it seems so... Whatever was going on there... (my crazy head ), now it is fixed. I was able to reproduce the bug so I fixed it. Please download version 2009-03-05. BTW I've been able to reproduce the crash thing. I have a grid full of files pointing to "My pictures", I select a file or whatever, stack opens the file successfully, performs stack-out animation and then by whatever reason RD crashes. I'll investigate this a bit. Edit 1. Ok, now I notice it was pointing to C:\, not "My pictures". 2. If you click "36 more... / Open folder" it doesn't crash. Edit Ok, it does crash only if you click a picture type recognized by Stacks Library... ??? I'm really intrigued now. Launching text files, log files, programs, etc... doesn't crash (up to now). Impheatus
Nice, I'm testing it.Quick report:1. Stacks getting "stucked" after expanding another stack without closing the first one is still present.2. You're right, when I click an image file (a jpg), the stack launches "image viewer" and collapses the stack just like it should but then it CRASHES ObjectDock.3. Tested opening a video, it WORKS OK.4. Tested opening a .doc archive and it CRASHES OD too.5. Opening ANY Office document CRASHES OD. Link to comment
Baz
Weird. I extracted the StackLib.dll into the OD directory and StackDocklet2.0 folder into the Docklets folder. Launched OD for the first time, added a stack docklet, all worked well. Rebooted the PC and every time I try to run OD it crashes while the StackLib.dll is in the main directory. I deleted the StackLib.dll, now OD works fine but the stacks docklet doesn't. I tried reinstalling and it does the same thing every time. Link to comment

uuffoo
Matonga thank you for the update. Testing it on Objectdock 1.9 Windows7 x64 b7000.Quick Report:1. shift-click on stack icon will do a slow motion folder opener (new feature?) not tested it on previous build...2. issues reported by robc (comment #87) still exist. shortcut in a stack that need Administrator privilege will crash Objectdock.3. after crash, re-Run objectdock from start menu will restart objectdock+stackdock but when we maximize running program from objectdock the program will not open as fast as usual (will freeze a while before completely open). Quit objectdock and reopen/rerun it again fix the problem. Link to comment
Zackraa
it doesnt handle changing its dock icon at allwindows vista premium 32 bitI'm using objectdock which works with the older versions but this new version seems to work well until you restart objectdock then it crashes Link to comment
robc
Under RocketDock and Vista Ultimate x86 SP1 a shortcut with Administrator privileges still crashes RK as I described above and UUFFOO confirmed under ObjectDock also. I can confirm also the Shift+Click doing a very slooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow animation, which of course is useless but very fun to watch Cannot confirm the extra space for now since... I reallocated shortcuts here and there NOT to have the extra space! No, wait... it's OK now Link to comment
Zackraa
I admit it looks beautiful but I for some odd reason it can not start up rocketdock (crashes repeatedly maybe 4th or 5th try it'll open) after changing the stack icon and in objectdock it refuses to start at all using any stack (also crashing repeatedly)I can't wait until this is as good as the first stacks docklet which I'm currently using I love the massive ixons looks beautiful in vista especially in my emulator/mmorpg quick launch stacks folder the 256x256 icons looks wonderful and not blurry as in past versions Edited March 6, 2009 by Zackraa Link to comment

Whatever, I found it really funny myself and decided to emulate the feature. Link to comment
robc
Any fix yet for the "run as Administrator" issue? I have a few in stacks and each time I run one I need to restart RocketDock... Link to comment
