I have installed Standalone Stack and gone through the process of creating a stack but when I click on taskbar icon I get the run dialogue box. I would be grateful for any advice as regards clicking the icon and launching the stack and not the run dialogue box.

1st these are settings shown and on the top is the result ... before it was confirmed and the result ... us not the one in settings .... (forgot to mention that in the original stacked folder are 10 items) but shown are only 2

the offset override doesn't work x,y ... different things .. still the same result :(

Question ... would it be possible to make it work on mouse hover ? like the one in grouped opened windows ?

thx great work ;)

2nd pic. the arrow is each time I click to open on a different please

3th when I change sth ... even if I from that changed stack create a new shortcut it doesn't work (to update the old settings .. even if everything in settings is changed correctly)

Was looking for a gadget(?) like this as I want to keep my desktop completly clean except for the trashcan and if it would work, it would be marvellous, but alas.

I have 2 problems. 1 minor, 1 fatal.

- minor: even if I select (actually de-selecting that I do) that I don't want the option of opening it in explorer when I open a stack the arrow for it is still there when I open the stack.

- fatal: i doesn't show all the icons in the stack. I made a folder, put 4 shortcuts for games in there and then ran SAS2, pointed to the folder, created a stack, created the shortcut. Problem is that the stack will show only 2 icons instead of the 4 that I should get.

Now I seem to recall that I read somewhere that SAS2 can't handle certain kinds of icons????

standalonestack is a great app, but like many people here are suggesting, its very slow when starting for first time (after reboot). any ideas how to speed that up?

something like auto launching stacks on startup (but in background). i only managed to startup my stacks, but they wont load in background, i dont know how to do that. instead of loading in background, they are opening in centre of my screen when loading windows. any ideas how to startup them in back?

if anyone have a suggestion, i would appreciate it

and why standalonestacks clears icon cache every time i close it? it would be much faster if cache stays..

thanx

Great application - tempted to switch from 7Stacks - once loaded Standalone Stack 2 is so much faster! Only thing now is that the fan with 0 degree would benefit so much from a background. Alternatively it could be done by telling the grid how many columns it should use (and text on the right side).

Are there still any updates in planing?

I'm trying out this app having used Rocket Dock for ages. However since upgrading to Win 7 64bit, and changing admin settings and backward compatibility, Rocket Dock is no longer reliable, hence trying out Standalone Stack 2.

Overall it looks like a nice piece of kit, but I can't for the life of me work out how to change the grey arrow icon to one that is more representative of the stacks contents, e.g. an acrobat icon for my folder containing adobe's creative suite.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I am using this fantastic little piece of software, but I am encountering a rather annoying bug: One of my shortcuts is consistently displayed incorrectly. Here is an image of the bug:

post-142282-0-02654800-1322315416_thumb.

As I'm sure you can see, "Chocolate Castle" is the shortcut I have an issue with. But it is not a problem with that shortcut, because if I rename it, another one will be displayed like that. Is there any way to fix this? I have tried using a custom icon (through standalone stack's "images" directory) but that didn't work either.

EDIT: And Webby77: Right click the shortcut to the stack and choose "Properties" then in the Properties window "Change Icon". (If you have the shortcut pinned to your taskbar, you can right click the shortcut, then right click the name of the stack in the jumplist that appears and choose properties from there - in this case you will need to restart Windows Explorer to see the effect of the change)

EDIT: OK, it is only certain shortcuts. There are four that display incorrectly if they are the first of those four displayed (i.e. if I hide the other 3, the remaining one from the 4 won't display correctly). I'll see if I can replace the icons or something :/

hallo dear dev,

i like your app very much, thank you very much! :))

although you stopped the development, i like to ask you for some minor bug fix.

since i'm used to place my taskbar on top screen, it's not possible to use standalone stack's shortcuts anymore because they always open upwards (so i cant see its items)

to see what i mean open standalonestaack2.exe and go to "My Stack" -> "Custom stack Settings" -> "Direction :" than try to to choose "Down". shortcut will open upwards anyway.

PLEASE fix this little bug.

I have a problem with this wonderful application, when I go to open an StandaloneStack 2 item/link on RocketDock, sometimes the window instead of opening on the dock, opens in another high place on screen, under the upper edge.

Another small addition would be done to speed up the link opening

This is the better macOS like application ever. I found only one flaw, in the stack of big directories/folders with many files, it doesn't have a sliding bar to the right. for going throught the contained folders/files in that directory, and there lacks the icons to show in explorer and go back too. So it's is very good app, but it doesn't work correctly with big folders.
