Ipb3 Version

Recommended Posts

Just a heads up, letting you guys know whats going on with the IPB3 version.

Since IPB3 final has been released, I have started working on the skin. Problem is there will be a slight delay with release till they release the subscription manager; which is preventing me from upgrading the site here.

But it is coming! Hopefully we don't have to wait too long.

Heh, still not sure on the over all design. I honestly did the skin you're seeing here in an hour while the forum was upgrading the ipb3. Time will tell though, not sure if I wanna keep the dark breadcrumb or use the lighter one.

I think a Mac skin doesn't have to looks like a Mac OS X because this is forums and that is OS. Even Apple official site looks different from its OS interface i.e. buttons are not 'Aqua'. To get Apple feel is just slick design as simple as possible.

P.S. Replying using an iPhone.

P.S.2. You know, the top toolbar is so similar to the Mac window that I first mistook it as a part of Safari window.

I thought at first that I installed some addon or toolbar by mistake and tried to figured out which program I installed :P

Honestly, I'm with that -- lack of background isn't that big a deal, albeit it makes for an attractive distractive background - albeit at the cost of real-estate.

It's a nice feature to have on a main index page, or on a portal style page, but on the actual forum, I prefer the straight edge-to-edge display.

What would be ultimate, of course, would be the ability to display portal and index with a backdrop, and then to use a webkit animation to quickly display a 'stretch' animation when linking to the forum section, displaying visually how the screen 'grows' to fill edge-to-edge.

Though I also figure that might get old real fast.

Went ahead and started over with ipb3.1. Will have this done and ready for release around the time 3.1 goes final.

Some notes though, I do not plan on supporting ie6 with this skin. So for those with lots of users on that browser, might want to be wary. But you can also just set their user agent to load the default ipb skin or the lo-fi one.

Heres some more shots of such tiny things :P

Since IPB 3.1 will be out this afternoon, may I assume we will see this marvellous skin around today or in a few day?

Doh, I sure hope it doesn't go final today. Its only Beta 3 atm, was at least expecting a few rc's. Its pretty buggy atm.

Seems no RTM after this...

Quoted from the IPS homepage:

IP.Board 3.1 is coming June 1st! (During the afternoon in Eastern US timezone) See what's new!

There're also quite a few discussion topics about the release in IPS forum

;) .

Updated: Out now. See it and apps in your client area.

Well tried to get some stuff done this weekend and I've had to put in a few support tickets with IPB. I can not save certain templates on the skins for ipb3.1 so its pretty much preventing me from doing anything.
