prcmelo-rj
Firefox 3.5... running an hour and a half... only one tab open ... the picture says it all, even says that perhaps I should try Opera or anything else than IE... Edited July 12, 2009 by prcmelo Link to comment
kjohnson
You might not like hearing this, but IE8 may be your best bet for memory usage. Safari, Opera, and Firefox eat memory like no tomorrow. If you run a modern computer with a firewall and antivirus, and browse the internet normally, IE8 is perfectly fine. Link to comment
scissorhands7
LOLMost likely you're infected with loads of malware (adware, trojans, etc.)Additionally go to Tools > Options > Advanced Tab > Networking Subtab > and tell me how much in terms of MB you are caching. Also give me a screenshot of your addons. tekNerd
For sure something is wrong, very wrong with your computer. I know firefox likes memory, but not like this. Edited July 12, 2009 by tekNerd Link to comment
prcmelo-rj
Well, I have 30 extensions installed ... cache of 100MB memory ... what I forgot to mention is that the screenshot was taken with only one tab open, but before I had several tabs open, then after I closed all and left only one open ... my intention was to say that even after closing the other tabs Firefox does not return to the system the memory used... even the old "trick" "minimize and then maximize" does not work to free the memory used... xMP44x
How many add-ons do you have for your Firefox? They can use a lot of memory. Only keep the ones you really need, such as AdBlock Plus. Pointless ones that aren't helping you any are worth deleting (toolbars you never use, etc.). Link to comment
