Well first off, you've picked the right dock to have on your desktop! :) Welcome!

And for your issue, that happens because you dragged the icons from the desktop to the dock... and when you delete the icon from the desktop, well, when you click on the icon on the dock, it tries to access that shortcut that was on the desktop (which it isn't there anymore).

When I first got into docks, I did that same thing, and had that same problem a LOT, and I've learned. And also, to get the best experience out of XWD 2, it's best to do a little bit of work and drag the actual .exe file from its folder onto the dock. This way, you get all the eye candy the dock has to offer (and not to mention, it will always work as long as you don't delete the .exe file! =] ).

First of all, it's already done. You have to run XWD with -p key. It means that Settings\ folder will be placed at the same folder as XWD.exe. So, for example, create .lnk and setup command line like "....\XWD.exe -p", and right now you have portable version ;)

Before talking so, you should know that Vista and Seven uses UAC and ALL user's data should be stored exactly here, and it's correct way to store it.

I'm not saying that xWd saves the settings in the wrong place... just that I don't really agree with this UAC approach of windows and saving the settings of software in all over the place... to a power user this sucks! many bad coded apps leave folders of this kind behind after uninstall so manual cleaning has to be done.

windows should create a folder Users in the root folder of each software and accordingly there should the settings for each user be stored in folders like User/User1 or User/User2 etc.

Anyway thanks for the tip and glad to see that xwd 2 is portable but would be great for the average user to be able to choose between portable and nonportable right from the option menu. And why not use the registry to store the settings for the nonportable version? The registry is much faster than any .INI settings file. Just a thought!

Hey Bobah... 2 suggestion for a future release:

1. The icons' size should be independent from the size of the dock

2. The skinning engine needs more improvement regarding the antialising of the 3d edges... right now the edges look good at 30 Degrees.

Again congrats on this impressive project!

Hey. These items don't make sense. 1. it's already done, 2th is done too.

I'm not making this up... here you'll see that I'm right... check out my screenshot: LINK

1. I've increased the icons size but the size of the dock also grew.

2. As you can see the edges are not antialiased like the should after changing the dock angle to 60 Degrees

Maybe in your latest build these things are fixed... I'm using the latest beta 2.0.2

You don't understand.

1. If icons are changed the dock should do the same too otherwise it doesn't make sense

2. It's antialiased, use for example another skin or compare with older version.

I totally understand...

1. In the previous version 5.6 the dock kept it's size when the icons were resized... the only thing that should change is the width, the height should stay the same or have some option to turn this off. The way this works in 2.0.2 it's not working well... remember how the dock on Mac works and also how xwd 5.6 works. I know you are creating xwd 2 from scratch, but don't forget the good parts of xwd 5.6 and also why so many people used it. I'm sure most people would agree on this one. So the dock should change it's Width and not it's Height.

2. People will never switch for good to xwd 2.0.2 if the antialising engine doesn't create the same smoothness the PNGs on xwd 5.6 have. Right now the antialising used is better than xwd 2.0.1, but it's not enough... and I did switch to another skin, but the skin is not to blame because the skinning principle is the same in every skin, you dont have Left and Right Border PNGs anymore... now the xwd2 engine is doing this.

It's obvious that this skinning method brings limitations design wise but also brings improvements.

So stop denying these problems and give me a smart answer my friend!

still has a long way to go to get at the level of xWd 5.6 ... I suggest you change the skins section and make it a drop down list... browsing the skins by Previous and Next buttons is stupid.

great work any way and waiting for the next release of course... sticking to the 5.6 until then because of the customization, functionality and the many awesome skins which unfortunately don't work in xWd v2.

And yeah.. one more request: please make it portable!!! storing the settings in Users\USER\AppData\Roaming\XWindows Dock\ it's a pain! I know it's ok for multiple users of the same PC but for the most of us this is not! At least add an option to switch between portable and not portable!

You can imagine the benefits of a portable software and I hope I don't have to remind people all that.

I understand this is a "General Discussion" forum for XWD... BUT I still don't understand why people like THIS (dpcdpc11) makes this kind of USELESS comments.

Specially giving orders to BOBAH13...? WTF?!!!

I mean it's okay if we make suggestions, but this?!!!

At the end, XWD is BOBAH13's property, so he develops the software however HE wants!!!

Hey douche... every developer needs feedback... I'm not ordering him to do anything... I'm telling things how they are right now and Bobah was contradicting me with no reason.

No great piece of software evolves with comments like: "Great software, right on!" and stuff.

And if you are a real tester or user or something, do you like the nonsmooth edges of the dock when the angle changes to other than 30 Degrees?

I'm a perfectionist so I like things to be done perfectly and if I can help things get better why shouldn't I? This is a free reg forum for the people to speak their mind!

So after browsing this forum and reading your posts, I've concluded that 99% of them are useless.

Next time watch your language kid, with "WTF.." and all and chill cause no one is giving orders to anyone... even the paragraph you quoted me has the "suggest" word in it! What would you do if you had like 100 skins installed and would like to switch from the 50th to 99th? Would it be pleasant for you to hit the next button 49 times?

Sorry for the offtopic... now lets get back to making xWD2 the best dock Windows users have ever seen!

that's what I'm saying... chill, I'm just trying to help this piece of software get better and better, not just for me but for all.

I've been using docks for a looong time, from the first version of Object dock, Yz dock, later on Rocket dock and RK launcher

I don't know which version of the dock you have. I just downloaded it from the site and I only see one slider which re sizes both the icon and dock.

So I'm not totally insane! Someone else is noticing this stuff... anyway hope to get in xws2 at least half of the options xwd 5.6 had!

Hi guys.

Right now I don't work on this project. May be in future, but not wait any updates soon.

At least remove the viruses from the latest build. You have viruses in your archive from http://xwdock.aqua-soft.org/ .

People should do a full scan because of 2 trojans in the xwd.exe and container.dll, i got infested with a rootkit witch i successfully removed with combofix.

I posted here but you din't bother to reply.. so here is a nice link:

Make it open source... what will it cost?

No. Why do I have to share these source code ? It's rather good written code and not so small. Anyway I haven't received any donations so I hope one day to sell the code. As we can notice, before, when I shared sources of 5.6 no one wanted to continue supporting the code, what will be different ? I think nothing.

At least remove the viruses from the latest build.

There are no viruses. It may happens because XWD downloads/checks new version of XWD online, therefore in XWD can be found some same signatures that can be interpritated as viruses. No need to redistribute your own version of XWD.exe and Container.dll

Edit:

I've used http://www.virustotal.com, so XWD.exe - no viruses at all, 0 from 41, but yes, Container.dll has 3 from 41. So, as you can see it's only 7,317% (3 / 41 * 100%). I think it's problem of all antiviruses, that they think that it's a virus but it's not truth. Please, be sure that you scaned using a bit more antiviruses!
