Q: After I quit the dock and re-open the dock again, all my icons disappeared. how do I save my dock ? also , does it only limite to 12 shortcuts ? how can I add icons within an icons ?

thanks

Do you have the newest version of the dock? Older versions had problems saving Icon settings.

Now, on to my problem.

Im having problems adding icons to my dock with the arguments. When I had the first version, it was working fine.

Now, when I add icons with arguments (this specific one is Dial-Up Networking) and I click on the icon, it says "The path "::{A4D92740-67CD-11CF-96F2-00AA00A11DD9}" does not exist or is not a directory. I have tried other shortcuts, and still, nothing.

Help? Anyone? Or can anyone tell me how to find out the argument code on my computer?

Thanks!

This is not a tip but an observation that is worthwhile to keep in mind.

How many icons can the dock take? Well,...as you add icons (PNGs) to the dock the overall size of the dock and the individual icons shrink to accomodate yet another icon.

At a resolution of 800x600 , I have fitted 37 icons. The icons look the size of a pencil eraser but still distinguishable AND they magnify nicely to 128x128. The dock may probably take 5-6 additional icons before they all become way too small.

This gives you a good idea of how flexible Y's dock is.

I love the dock works good and very fast! Only prob I have is that I can not take a screenshot with the dock in it! I am using 32 bit I also tried trans and non trans with background and still can not get the dock in the screenshot even on mouse over when the shot is taken. I do not have autohide on or anything.

Know how to do a icon link to the Search function ?

(In Yamaguchi's Dock)

-----------------------------

I got it!

I figured a way to link the Search Function (Fido Dog):

1 Go to the "Start" button. Find the Search Icon (magnifying glass).

2 Drag it to any folder ( ex. Program Files ). This will create a shortcut. c:\Program Files\&Search

3 Change the name &Search to Search or Find or whatever

4 Drag the shortcut to the Y's dock and in the link box place the site of the shortcut (in this example c:\Program Files\Search

that is it. ( the first time you use search it may take a couple of seconds then it works fast )

This does not work...

But an alternate way is to do the following...

Using a script. Create a new textfile and enter these lines:

Dim objShell

Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")

objShell.FindFiles

Save and rename the file to find.vbs. Now simply link to the file with the Dock or a regular shortcut.

RE: The shortcut way

You must not be doing it correctly. I use it on Y's dock , Mobydock ,Objectdock and in Toolbar. ( WindowsXP Pro )

You are probably creating the shortcut then deleting it.

dude,

you can't drag the search icon anywhere off the main start bar in win xp pro .. just like you can't drag the control panel or run icons anywhere either

:)

Edit:

Wait, I'm lying - you can drag it on usual themed XP systems (ie good old Luna, or no theme), but when i use a theme my dragging goes to pot. interesting.

Cheers :)

I think I know why on Y's dock version .40 & .41 not every icon bounces.

In the property window for the icon, under "Link to:" if you place the path with quotation marks the icon will launch the app or folder but it will not bounce. If you remove the quotation marks it will bounce.

Ex:

Link to : " C\Program Files\Nantucked.exe" <==> Icon will launch Nantucked.exe but icon will not bounce

Link to: C\Program Files\Nantucked.exe" <==> Icon will launch Nantucked.exe and it will bounce

I don't know why other apps do not show the arrow when launched. Just IE and Netscape.

how do add a link to the run dialog? i really wanted this one.

1) Open up your 'Start' menu. Find the Run Icon on the right hand side.

2) Open up Explorer and drag the Run icon from your start menu to any folder....for example the root of C:\

This will create a shortcut named C:\&Run... (or something similar)

3) Now right-click and rename that &Run... shortcut to just: Run

4) Drag any other .exe or link to Y's dock...right-click 'Property of Dock Item' and in the 'link to' and 'Work Folders' place the link to the Run shortcut (on my box this is C:\Run)

Works on my box..hope that works for you guys :)

sone, thx for that fast answer. looks like i made myself not clear enough. sorry.

what i mean is a shortcut in Y´s dock like the link in the windows quick-launch toolbar. by hitting it every open window will minimize. that´s what i mean with a shortcut to desktop. any ways to get it work in Y-s dock?

ok, i found out how it goes. it´s simple. so i will write it here (if someone else interest in it ;) )

go to:

C:\Documents and Settings\XXXXX\Application Data\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\

(XXXXX= your user name)

and drag the "Show Desktop" windows explorer command to your Yz Dook. that´s it.
